Client : Sun World International, one of the world’s largest plant variety breeders and global licensors of premium produce.
Position: Intellectual Property Attorney
Location: Italy
Model: Exclusive - Retained
Challenges:
- Time sensitivity
- Niche skill set required
- Competitive market
The Assignment
During a period of rapid expansion and whilst Sun World International was managing multiple recruitment campaigns globally, LCR International was approached by the CHRO to support them in a time sensitive search to secure an IP Attorney for their Italian operations. The firm was eager to hire its first In-house attorney in Europe to manage surveillance in the EU, instruct outside counsel in enforcement and advisory matters, assist with worldwide licensing, and review contracts for compliance.
Sun World required a niche skill set alongside knowledge of the agriculture and plant breeding sectors. LCR International Limited was engaged owing to our proven ability to successfully fill niche and strategic roles within the sector.
The Solution
Before undertaking this critical assignment, LCR International Limited had worked with the client on several occasions; we understand the market, geography and business culture. We also took the time to hold a detailed meeting with the client to fully appreciate the nuances and challenges of filling this specific role. We understood how to navigate the challenges of the search process and started to identify potential candidates by proactively engaging passive candidates with the skill set to succeed in the role.
The Result
We prioritised candidates with significant sector expertise and followed a diligent online and face to face screening process. On this occasion, the client intended to move to the offer stage within 2 weeks and instructed LCR to present a small number of highly aligned candidates within a short timeframe, rather than taking an exhaustive search of the market. LCR was able to deliver a shortlist of highly relevant and motivated candidates allowing Sun World to move to an offer that was accepted in advance of their desired timeframe.
